Our Evolution
Albert Smith Signs was founded in Brisbane in 1873 as S. Smith & Son Pty Ltd, a manufacturer of rubber stamps. By the early 1900s, the business became Albert Smith & Sons and continued to evolve as a leader in marking and identification products.
Following World War II, the company embraced emerging technologies and transitioned into signage manufacturing — leading the way in illuminated and architectural signage throughout the 1960s, 70s, and 80s.
In the 1990s, Albert Smith Signs expanded onto the global stage. In 1993, operations commenced in China, followed by the Philippines in 1998, marking the start of Albert Smith’s Asia Pacific journey. Over 30 years on, the brand continues to deliver innovative signage solutions across the region.
In 2001, the Global Sign Alliance (GSA) was formed in partnership with Blair Image Elements (USA), Prolicht (EU), and Albert Smith Signs Asia Pacific — strengthening our international capabilities.
Today, Albert Smith Signs Asia Pacific unites the strengths of our operations in Australia, China, and the Philippines, backed by a legacy of over 150 years and driven by a vision for the future.
